Polo at Hickstead - Facilities

In June 2006, the installation of our new fully boarded, state of the art 100m x 50m winter polo arena was completed. Adjacent to it we also have a fully refurbished 70m x 30m warm up and instructional arena, allowing us to continue lessons and stick 'n' balling during tournaments, which is unprecedented for an arena club.

Both arenas have the latest Martin Collins Surface, Ecotrack, described as a 'treadmill for horses'. Playing on such a surface is so kind to ponies' legs that they need a shorter 'holiday' before the summer season and older ponies can continue to compete for longer.

We also have a host of other facilities available to our members throughout the Winter Polo Season:

• Our arena-side club house is open on all club chukka and tournament days and offers our spectators an intimate, cosy atmosphere from which to enjoy a drink whilst watching the game, and our players somewhere to rest between chukkas and unwind after a strenuous match.

• Our larger club house overlooks the famous Hickstead International Arena, boasts a full bar and open fire, and provides the perfect location for post match drinks and socialising during all tournaments.
Furthermore there is a beautiful, traditional Sussex Barn next to the arena that will be converted into the main club house in the next year or so. Finally, we have a suite of function rooms, two of which are licensed for civil ceremonies, that can be used for anything from a small family wedding to a Polo Ball, catering for anywhere from 5 to 250 people. So we hope to see you at something soon!!
