British Horse Society




Founded in 1947, The British Horse Society is Britain's largest and most influential equine charity, with 66,800 members, plus 38,000 members of British Riding Clubs, making a total membership of nearly 105,000. The Society works to raise standards and bring about change in a range of areas including horse welfare, safety, access, training and education. The Society's flagship event, the Royal International Horse Show is one of the oldest horse shows in the world, and in 97 years this reputation has never diminished. The show has been run by Hickstead since 1992. Since this time the Society has enjoyed a close working relationship with Hickstead, which it hopes will continue in years to come.
