Get set for some exciting polo action

After an action-packed summer of showjumping at Hickstead, it's now time for the All England Polo Club to open its doors for its winter season. First established in 2006, Hickstead's polo club is now in its ninth season and has grown to become one of the premiere Arena Polo grounds in the country.

Arena Polo differs from its summer counterpart in that it features three players instead of four, and shots can be played off the arena boards, making it a faster-paced game to play and watch.

For those who want to learn more about Arena Polo, the All England Polo Club is hosting two open weekends on the 18/19 October and 25/26 October. Newcomers and polo enthusiasts will be welcome to view the facilities, meet the members and club staff, see the Club's stable of rental ponies and chat to instructors. Chukkas at the open days are free of charge, and staff will be on hand to answer questions about the Club.

Chukkas will begin in November, while from 15 November there will be matches or tournaments held most weekends at the Club. Admission and car parking is free of charge on all regular match days, and spectators are welcome. The Arena Clubhouse is open every weekend, with a fully-stocked bar and range of delicious menu options, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy some superb polo action.

If you've ever wanted to learn to play polo, the All England Polo Club has a number of options, from 'Discover polo' lessons, instructional chukkas, short courses and corporate polo days.

The highlight of the Hickstead polo season is the International Arena Polo Test Match for the Bryan Morrison Trophy held on Saturday 7 March. The season then draws to a close on Sunday 15 March.
