Get set for a summer of shopping!

As we grow closer to the start of our international season, Alice Cooke and Alex Irwin take you on a preview tour of this year's Charles Owen Shopping Village

Whether you’re an equestrian through-and-through or are simply joining us this summer for a grand day out, there’s something for everyone in the Charles Owen Shopping Village at The Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting (20–23 June) and The Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Great Britain (23-28 July).

Whether snaffling out a bargain among all the show offers, or searching for that perfect gift, we’ve put together a few 2019 highlights to get you in the mood for a spot of retail therapy. 

Food, Glorious Food

If you’re in search of that fix that only chocolate can solve, we have you covered with the Chocolate Fondue stand, the messiest but most delightful way to enjoy chocolate, at Stand 72a. If a slightly different sweet treat is what you’re looking for, Granny Sally’s can offer you any and every variety of fudge you can imagine - find them at Stand 54. Abel and Cole can offer those of you looking for something slightly less indulgent but totally wholesome - their award-winning organic fruit and veg boxes. adults - make sure you head to Stand 166 to visit Pinkster Gin... need we say more?! Especially for those of you planning on making the earlier classes in the day, skip breakfast at home and come and visit The Continental Bakery in the Food and Drink market who will be sure to have something tempting for you to start your day off properly. Throughout the day Lime Tree Pantry will have all sorts of delicious sweet and savoury pies, puddings and pasties to satisfy your hunger. After long days out at Hickstead, HelloFresh and their recipe kit deliveries offer tasty and easy ways to get a healthy meal on the table at home, definitely worth a visit!

Doggy treats

For those truly pampered pooches, the only choice of bed is surely one from Scott’s of London. So comfy looking, you might just be tempted to push the dog out and climb in yourself! Find them at Stand 3 at the Al Shira'aa Hickstead Derby Meeting, and Stand 61 at the Longines Royal International Horse Show. If your dog deserves only the best (and of course he does) then go and have a peek at Stand 217, where you’ll find the UK’s first natural, healthy, home-cooked dog food service with Butternut Box. Beds, blankets and cushions: it is said to be sleepy dog heaven at stand 51 with Snoozzzeee Dogs, so go and spoil your pup and treat them to a bedroom revamp. Oscar’s Pet Food is the premium destination to go if you’re in search of not just a free pet food delivery service but also free feeding and nutrition advice - find them at Stand 59 at the Derby Meeting.


If you’re in the market for a piece of tack, you are quite simply spoilt for choice here at Hickstead. The famous Saddler’s Row, just above from the International Warm-Up Arena, is jam-packed with every item of tack you could possibly hanker after. CWD Sellier and Voltaire produce bespoke luxury saddles that many of the pros will vouch for, and they can be found at Stands 7a and 128 respectively. Horse Direct is the official Le Mieux shop here at Hickstead, being the brand choice of the likes of Scott Brash and Charlotte Dujardin, so you can trust you will be finding exactly what you want at the highest quality, they will be at Stand 2. Kate Negus produces beautiful bespoke bridlework that can be tailored to any and all disciplines as well as leather bags and belts and is well worth a visit at Stand 72 at the Derby. If you’re in search of a new pair of boots and tack accessories Equifit boots and Flex-on stirrups will be found at Stand 81. Bates will be selling their range of specialised saddles, as well as mounts and accessories for every discipline. Find them at Stand 11 at the Al Shira'aa Hickstead Derby Meeting. 

Get crafty

Make sure you head to the Eden Crafts tent – one of the top players in the craft and gift fair market, you’ll find unique small producers and independent retailers galore all under one roof. It's located just behind the public grandstand next to the Derby bank, beyond the catering court.

If you’re searching for a present you’re in luck, because you’re bound to find just the thing. But if you’re not on the search for a gift, chances are you’ll leave thinking perhaps you should be – it’s never too early to start planning for the festive season, after all...

Fashion, darling

If you are in search of clothing and fashion, we have you covered - quite literally! Tina Bucknall has a fabulous line ranging from shirts to trousers to shoes made by top British and Italian designers and they’ll be found at Stand 177. If countryside chic is what you’re in search of, look no further than House of Tweed, who will get you kitted out with gorgeous bags and accessories that will finish off any look - they can be found at Stand 56. Wondering where to get your summer wardrobe started? Charlotte Grace Casuals is what you are looking for, with their fabulous choice of clothing, jewellery and other accessories at Stand 61C. Socks galore, what more can we say? If your sock collection needs a revamp Peper Harow will amaze and delight you at Stand 129 at the Longines Royal International Horse Show. Of course, there is a great selection of shopping for children's clothing too, and Iconic Kidswear found at Stand 39 at the RIHS with fashion options for babies through to children up to eight years old.

Lifestyle living

Dolly Hotdogs creates bold and beautiful home furnishings, textiles and giftware, inspired by the Devon coast and countryside so if you’re looking for new houseware with colour and character, head to Stand 39 at the Derby to have a browse. A Touch of Silver produces beautiful handmade equestrian jewellery that provides the perfect accompaniment to any outfit, especially at an event like Hickstead - to see their line head to Stand 128. If you’re searching for something unique for your home, The Jambo Collection at Stand 35 is certainly worth a look, their products are all made using African cowhide. The Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund is where to look if you’re in search of a new pair of quality moccasins as well as other ladies' accessories. The money does of course also all go toward their charity so pop in and have a browse at Stand 125. Razzle Dazzle at Stand 32 offers stunning handcrafted jewellery that is very affordable and perfect for any occasion. Their line ranges from simple to more colourful items, so well worth a visit if you are looking for a new item to add to your jewellery collection. If you’re on the look out for some more practical items, Eden Garden France produces premium quality ratchet-system gardening tools which can be found at Stand 126.
