Seaford College made it a one-two in the Hurst College National Junior Schools Jumping Championship today at Hickstead, making it a first win in this competition for the West Sussex-based school. They also cemented team honours with a clean sweep in the individual final, plus a win in the Hickstead Elite 1.00m NSEA Team Championship. What a day to remember for the school!

Millfield School took both team and individual titles today in the Senior Schools division. The Somerset school has an excellent record at these championships, winning the senior title in 2016 and 2017, and the junior title in 2018 and 2019.

In the Hurst College National Pony Club Championship, local branch the Crawley and Horsham Hunt took the team honours, with Bicester & Warden Hill rider Christina Rawding and CES Wicked taking the individual title.

Scarlet Clark-Murphy’s ride Ballyleak Silver looked as good as ever when claiming The Hickstead Elite 1.10m NSEA Individual Championship. The 20-year-old grey gelding saw off a strong field of 30 to take the spoils from an early draw.

Double bronze in the dressage
Double bronze in the dressage

After Team GB picked up a bronze medal in the team dressage, Charlotte Dujardin and Gio added individual bronze in the Freestyle - making Charlotte the most medalled female athlete in British Olympic history. Charlotte's achievements dominated the headlines the following day, putting equestrian sport firmly in the limelight.

It was a remarkable result considering all three horses - Gio, Carl Hester's ride En Vogue and Lottie Fry's Everdale - were all making their senior Championship debut, and it was Lottie's first ever Olympics. The Germans continue to dominate in the sport, winning team gold, individual gold and individual silver in Tokyo, but the future certainly looks bright for Great Britain as we look towards the FEI European Championships later this summer, and the Paris Olympics in three years' time.
