The Hurst College National Schools and Pony Club Jumping Championships took place on Friday (1 July) at the All England Jumping Course. In the Senior Schools competition, Tudor Hall School took the team title ahead of reigning champions Seaford College. The Tudor Hall team of Xanthe Anstee Marriott (Ardough Boy), Hettie Turcan (Capard Lady), Rosie Smith (Caherlistrane Glass) and Molly Turcan (Star Smokey) finished on a clean sheet with three clear rounds on their beautifully-matched team of grey horses! Meanwhile, the individual honours went to 18-year-old Georgie Beeby Wynn and Afficks Eclipse from Berkhamsted School. In the Junior division, the daughters of two Derby winners were part of the winning team - read our report to find out more. |

Everyone at Hickstead was hoping the 60th Al Shira’aa Derby would be a classic – and we weren’t disappointed! It was so lovely to see Shane Breen finally win on home turf, after coming so close in the past and being so consistent at all Hickstead events. Shane was saying he’d keep coming down to the show when he was 80 to have one more attempt at winning the Derby, such was his determinism to win our showcase class. He might not have to do that anymore, with his name firmly inscribed on the Derby Roll of Honour… But we dare say he’ll keep coming back for another attempt for quite some time! Find out which Derby performances stood out most this year in our look back over a classic renewal of our most iconic class. |
