Can you believe today was the final day of the Hickstead season? It seems no time at all since we were welcoming competitors on to the showground for the I.C.E. Horseboxes All England Dressage Festival in May, and here we are, at the end of another All England September Tour. Thank you to everyone who has supported this show, from riders, owners, grooms, tradestands, officials and of course, sponsors. It's been great to see so many talented riders here over the past two weeks, and if the strength of our young horse classes have been anything to go by, we are producing some outstanding horses in this country too.
Today was all about the LeMieux All England Grand Prix, with plenty of big names among the line up. But the top prize went to a young Irish talent who has won so many Hickstead titles during the past few years - scroll down to discover more.
In today's news, we also bring you a round up of some of the other classes that have taken place over the weekend, plus we report on Britain's latest successes over in Riesenbeck at the Dressage Europeans. We explain why a visit to our cross-country schooling course is a must for any rider this winter, and we've got an excellent prize draw to win a bundle of prizes worth more than £500 from our generous sponsor LeMieux.

Ireland’s Jessica Burke has enjoyed many International Arena wins at Hickstead over the past few years, and today she added the 1.40m LeMieux All England Grand Prix to her impressive collection. Riding Liam Nicholas’ 13-year-old gelding Express Trend, Jessica produced such a rapid jump-off round that she was 1.5sec clear of the runners up, Sally Goding and the prolific Spring Willow.
Following her first Hickstead International Arena win a week ago, it didn’t take long for teenage star Eve McCoy to add another. Riding her father AP McCoy’s Cocktail D'Azur, the pair claimed the honours in the Stoner Jewellers All England 1.20m Open Championship for the second week in a row.
The first class of the day, the All England Novice Championship, went to Nicole Pavitt and the six-year-old mare Azalea 16, while the All England 1.00m Open Championship brought today’s action to a close, with the honours going to Elizabeth Prior and Be Royale. Theirs was another wide-margin win, crossing the finish line nearly 5sec faster than their nearest rivals, Olivia Purdie and Diamond Hill Toby. |

It's not long to wait until our cross-country schooling arena reopens - and booking is now open! You can reserve your slot from Friday 6 October, with the arena remaining open for hire until April.
Our schooling course has been really popular since it first opened in 2019, and lots of you have become regulars. It's one of the largest facilities of its type in the UK, covering nearly five acres, with fences from 60cm up to 1.10m. We have a large steps complex, a huge water, plus every type of fence you might encounter across-country. Plus thanks to our superb Andrews Bowen surface, we can offer excellent throughout the winter months. It's the perfect place to get ready for next year's eventing season, and even Olympic riders such as Gemma Stevens and Pippa Funnell are regular visitors. But if you just want to have a bit of variety with your showjumper, build up fitness or just have some fun jumping some fences with your horse and pony, then come on down. Hire is £40 per horse, with a maximum of eight horses on the course. |

What a week it's been over at the FEI European Dressage Championships in Riesenbeck. Following Thursday's team gold and Friday's individual bronze for Charlotte Dujardin in the Grand Prix Special, the Brits were back on the podium today for the Grand Prix Freestyle.
The two Charlottes - Fry and Dujardin - rode technically difficult tests to produce personal best scores. The World Champion pairing of Fry and Glamourdale made an uncharacteristic error by striking off on the wrong canter lead, but such was the quality of their extensions they finished on a score of 92.379% to take silver. Last to go, Charlotte Dujardin and Imhotep were once again hugely impressive, with even more to come from this young horse. There was a nervous wait to see their final scores, but with 91.396% on the scoreboard, it was good enough for bronze. Once again Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl took gold with her Tokyo champion, TSF Dalera BB. |
