Winter spectacular

It may be the height of summer but today the focus was on Winter, with the prestigious British Showjumping Winter Finals taking place in the Longines International Arena. Once again a member of the famous Whitaker dynasty landed the main class of the day - scroll down to find out which one! We were also impressed to see an eight-year-old rider see off rivals several years older than her in the 128cm final.

In today's issue we bring you all the latest news from the showing classes, as well as winning rounds, full results and a round-up of everything you can look forward to watching tomorrow at the Longines Royal International Horse Show. Plus there's another great prize draw, this time to win a luxury horse and rider set from Supreme Products.

Tom Whitaker got the Longines Royal International Horse Show off to a flying start with a win in the British Showjumping Winter Grades B & C Championship, riding the talented seven-year-old Colliers Carlotta. The pair were one of six combinations to jump clear in the opening round, and their time of 38.52sec was enough to relegate Ireland’s Trevor Breen (Glenard Kannendro) into second place. Thursday's highlights
Thursday's highlights

Tomorrow is one of our favourite days of the season, when the event riders come out to play! Gemma Stevens won last year's Ashby Underwriting Eventers' Challenge with Flash Cooley, and this year she's back with both him and second ride Santiago Bay in the hope of retaining the trophy. But she'll face some tough competition, with Pippa Funnell, Tom McEwen and Simon Grieve among those taking part. Read our preview here

Thursday is also when the first international showjumping classes take place, with the feature jumping classes of the day being the Royal International Vase and the Royal International Trophy. In the showing, we have the hunters, amateur riding horses and mountain and moorlands.

Tickets are available online and at the gate, though if you can't make it in person you can watch all the action live on ClipMyHorse.TV and Hickstead.TV.
