Supermodel and TV presenter Jodie Kidd is no stranger to doing photoshoots in glamorous locations, but her latest modelling assignment took on a bit of an unusual twist!
Jodie is the god daughter of Hickstead founder Douglas Bunn, and the West Sussex showground has always been like a second home to her. So when she was asked to take part in a special photoshoot to highlight the new glass-fronted private hospitality boxes at Hickstead, she jumped at the chance!
Looking the picture of elegance in her stylish hat and dress, with a glass of bubbles in hand, Jodie took her place at the head of the beautifully laid table – only to find herself mere inches from the action.
Top Irish showjumper Shane Breen, the winner of the Al Shira’aa Derby in 2022, had brought one of his star horses into the iconic International Arena and jumped over the table, right next to where Jodie was striking a pose, to make for a spectacular photo opportunity.
“This is just a typical Monday morning!” joked Jodie afterwards. “It’s been a really fantastic photoshoot, and I think it really summarises the Hickstead experience – it’s fun, it’s glamorous, there’s World class showjumpers and Champagne – it’s perfect. I grew up showjumping, and it’s my true love.”
The Hickstead Derby course is known for its challenging fences, but this has been the first time anyone has jumped a dining table on Hickstead’s turf. “Shane is the most incredible, calm rider, who gets the best tune out of every horse. It was quite a spooky jump, with glasses and candelabra, and me doing my modelling thing at the side, and Shane just pops it like it’s nothing,” Jodie adds.
If you want to get up close to the action at Hickstead, then why not opt for one of the VIP Private Boxes, or a table in the Members’ Restaurant, which both offer the best views over the International Arena. Prices start from £80 per person. Click here for more information.
